Many have been asking, what is junior high jazz band? Simply put, it's another band class during the day that students can take in addition to regular band class where they will play a totally different style of music than in regular band. Jazz Band instruments include: saxophone, trombone, trumpet, piano, bass guitar, guitar, drum set, and often other percussion instruments. Flute and clarinet players sometimes learn saxophone for jazz band and play their original instrument in concert band. Not everyone is accepted into jazz band in junior high, only those who behaved well in band the previous year and can play their instruments well are chosen for jazz band. It is possible to do regular band without jazz band, but it is not possible to be in jazz band and not regular band. Below are some examples of jazz pieces that give you an idea of the type of music we play.
